Not all that long ago we did not have email programs to use. The first email program started around 1961. It has grown exponentially and increased the efficiency of programs.
Communication with Email is like having your own assistant. It is fast, convent and messages can be sent from any where in the world. The cost is minimal, even if communicating with some one in another country.
Email makes communication a real time saver. Two or more email address can be sent the same message at the same time with only a few clicks of the mouse. This works well for business, family affairs, clubs and friends.
ForwardAny message you receive can be forwarded to any other email address with a few mouse clicks. If the persons address is not in your contacts, just type their address in the "To:" address box and click send.
If you are waiting for a specific email message, if your computer and software are newer, you can attach a sound to that particular user. Open and keep your email program open, just minimize it so you can keep working. If you want to know when new messages come in, you can assign another sound to all incoming messages.
Typing an email address is similar to dialing a phone number except you are typing on a computer or other gadgets. An address can be stored on the hard drive just like a phone number can be programmed into a speed dial button.
Spam used to be something to eat, (and still is), A fun thing to do to your computer teacher is to put a can of spam in their book bag, gently of course. Your teacher can say they were spammed!
With today's computer jargon, Spam is junk email, just like the junk mail you receive in your mailbox, or the annoying telephone solicitors who call you trying to sell you something.
There are several ways to deal with spam:
1. Delete it every time you receive it (this is a pain)
2. Add the address to the spam list on your computer (preferred)
3. send an email to the company sending the spam and ask them to remove you from their list (this is not recommended because the company will know they have a valid email address)
Unlike snail mail, any email that has been sent is listed in the "Sent Email" folder. There's no mistaking if the message was sent or not. Also listed are the date and time, author 's and receivers email address. In fact, the sent message can still be opened, forwarded, re-sent and printed. You can't do that with snail mail!
Email has changed the way the world communicates! If you are not using email now, take time to learn.
