Make a gift that they will always remember. Combine a food craft and some computer software and you have created something that will last forever.

Items Needed

  • Digital Camera
  • Business Cards
  • Paper Punch
  • Ribbon
  • 2 Quart Canning Jar
  • Scissors
  • 4 Inch Square Piece of Fabric
  • Clear Plastic Wrap Clear plastic to cover the cards, (you can purchase this plastic from major craft stores)
  • Dry ingredients from a favorite cookie recipe

Bake a Batch of the cookies, then take some pictures

  • Arrange cookies in different layouts
  • Have one of your children take a bite of a cookie
  • Take a picture of your child biting into a cookie with a plain background
  • Set a glass of milk close to the plate of cookies and shoot at an odd angle

Add Some Color to the background of the business cards by inserting some lines or simple graphics that do not interfere with the text. Edit the Pictures. Start with the picture of your child taking a bite of a cookie, crop so the picture is mostly of a close up shot of their face. It should be 2/3's of the entire picture, size the photo to bit the card. Another picture could be of a cookie and a glass of milk, again 2/3's of the entire photo.

Print a Picture on one of the business cards leaving room at the top left to punch a hole for the ribbon. Type a list of all of the ingredients and print the list on side 1 of another card, then type and print the directions on side 2. Leave room at the top left of the card to punch a small hole. Tear cards apart. Cover the cards with the clear plastic to protect them.

Layer the Dry Ingredients in the mason jar, alternating the colors to get a nice effect.

Place a Small Piece of plastic wrap over the top of the jar, add the inside lid, add the fabric and then the outside lid. Punch holes in the cards and slide them onto the ribbon. Tie ribbon around the top of the jar and make a bow.

Cookies in a jar make a great gift plus you and your children will have a memory that will last forever.
