Create Personal Playing Cards

Young children love to see their names on things. Create a personalized set of playing cards for each of your children.

Playing cards are fun and make. Any office supply store will have business card papers. For this article, use Avery #5371. They tear apart easily. They make a great gift especially if you wrap them in

Paper designed for them.

  1. Open Microsoft Word, Click on Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word
  2. Click on TOOLS, Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Labels
    • Click on the "Labels Tab"
    • Click on "Options"
    • Click on "Product number 5371," click on OK
  3. Click on "New Document"
  4. Save the document as "Playing Cards"
  5. Side 1
  6. Add five pictures
    • Click in INSERT, Picture, Clipart, "Clip art on Office Online"
    • Choose any picture and insert it into the first cell on the left side (animals work well)
  7. *Format the picture
    • Click on the picture to turn in on
    • Click on FORMAT, Picture
    • Change the Format to in front of text
    • Change the Size to about 2 inches (depends on your picture)
    • Move the picture to the center of the first card in the left column
  8. Copy and Paste the picture to the cell directly across on the right side
  9. **Choose another picture and insert it into the second card in the left column
  10. Format the picture, return to *
    • Move the picture to the center of the second card in the column on the left side
    • Copy and Paste the picture to the cell directly across on the right side
  11. Go to * and continue until you have all five pictures inserted and copied ( a total of 10 pictures)
  12. Click on Print Preview, make sure it looks correct and print when ready
  13. Make two or three sets of cards so children can match the pictures

Side 2

Side 2 should be 10 of the same pictures. Use WordArt to create the child's name or AutoShapes - Callouts. Both can be customized with colors and fonts.
