Have you ever had problems finding that special wrapping paper? Create unusual and individualized paper with your color printer.

Creating wrapping paper for that special occasion is easy and fun to do. All you need is some colored printer paper, a color printer and imagination. Follow these steps:

1. Open Microsoft Word, click on Start, All Programs, Microsoft Office, Word.

2. Type a short message, 5 -6 words minimum:

Happy Second Birthday Sara! ?

Welcome to the family baby Robert!

Good Luck Julie, we will miss you!

3. Change the Page Margins:

Click on FILE, Page Setup, Margins

top = .3, right = .3, bottom = .3, left = .3

4. Center the text.

5. Select your text and change the font to either, Monotype Corsiva, Matura MT Script Capitals, Gigi, Freestyle Script or any font that is not just straight up and down. Start the font size at 18 points, you will adjust the size later.

6. Change the color of the font to coordinate with the color of your paper.

7. Save your document to "Wrapping Paper - Happy Second Birthday Sara."

8. Copy and Paste the text after the first phrase, put a blank space or two between the phrases, select both the first and second phrase, Copy, then Paste after the first two lines. Continue to Copy and Paste until the entire page is filled up. Delete a word or two from the first line only to off set the words.

9. Adjust the words by changing the font, font size, bold, italic or margins so the texts fills up the entire paper.

Some good color combinations include:

- light green paper with teal lettering

- light blue paper with blue lettering

- speckled gray paper with dark maroon lettering

Other Ideas:

- a digital photo of almost anything that has been blown up and the brightness and contrast adjusted so the photo is very faint.

- A combination of text and a small picture also work well together. An example could be "Congratulations on your Graduation from (your name here)," add a small picture of a diploma or graduation hat.
