Microsoft Outlook has integrated features that combine Email, a Calendar, Tasks list and a Note pad. Some items also come from Word, Microsoft's word processing program.

Folder List

This section shows all the folders you have, or will create to hold specific email messages. Folders are used to organize your messages. You can set up your folders with an individual persons name, company name or by subject. After you create a folder, drag and drop email messages into them.

To create a new folder, left click on FILE, New, Folder, type the name of the new folder, click on OK.

Inbox

The inbox collects all of your incoming messages. Any unread message will have an icon that looks like a yellow closed envelope. After you read the message, the icon will change to a white open envelope.

View Email Messages

Left click on any message to select it, double click to open.

Create a New Email Message (Standard Toolbar)

Click on NEW on the Standard toolbar.

Click in the white box next to the To... type the email address of the person the message will be sent to. You may send the same message to more than one person by typing a semicolon (;) and a space, and the email addresses of the other people the message will be sent to. (You do not have to type email addresses if you have the addresses set up in your contacts.)

Click in the white box next to the Cc... to send a carbon copy to another email address.

Click in the white box next to the word Subject:, type a short description of the message you are sending. Two or three words are usually enough of a description.

Click in the main message area and type your message. This is the bigger white box below the subject box. Messages can be quite long and include graphics.

Send Email Message (Standard Toolbar)

Left click on the SEND button on the Standard toolbar.

Network - If you are connected to the network at work, when you click on the SEND button, your message will be sent at that time.

Non-Network - If you are not connected to a network, after clicking the SEND button, you will be returned to the main Outlook screen, left click on SEND/RECEIVE on the standard toolbar, to send your message.
