If you do not have a lot of computer experience, but want your documents to look professional, use a professionally designed free template.

Office Software can give you a helping hand by supplying templates for many areas of you work and some for fun. A template is a document. Many have been designed by professionals and are easy to use. Some templates are pre-worded, others have fill in the blank fields. To use them, click in a field, then enter your information. Be sure to save the template with your information as a document.

For example, when you use a word processing program, the new blank document that comes up is a template. The margins, font, font size and font color are pre-set. The user has the option to change the formatting. All types of software come with templates that are loaded when you install the program.

Microsoft has many free templates that are easy to use. Go to the Microsoft website, click on "Templates" in the Search Box, then click the next white box and type in the type of template you are looking for, then click on Go. Let's say you are looking for a calendar, type "calendar" in the box next to templates. The results will be several pages of templates. When you find the one you want, click on the image, (the picture of the calendar) you will go to another page with a larger picture. This page shows the rating, how many times this template has been downloaded, the file size and the program to use. To download, click on "Download Now". When the template opens, save it to you hard drive.

Avery Denison also has many free templates. Avery Denison is best known for their many varieties of labels. Click in the "Quick Search" box at the upper left of the screen, click on "Templates/Software", click on go. When the next page comes up, click on "Learn More" in the lower right corner and follow the prompts.
