There are four versions of Vista, Microsoft's new operating system, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and the Ultimate with a release date of January 30, 2007.

Microsoft created a new transparent design called "Aero." With the transparent design, you can see through the windows and see what is underneath. This GUI or Graphical User Interface is more pleasing to the eye. Areo is an acronym for Authentic, Energetic, Reflective and Open.

If you want to be one of the first to own Vista, you need to decide which version will be right for you. Amazon.com is currently taking orders and will ship sometime in February 2007.

Home users have two main options to choose from, the Home Basic $99.95 or Home Premium $239. The Premium is expected to be the most popular. You can also purchase an upgrade if you currently have Windows XP, plus you can also purchase additional licenses.

Business users have the same options as the home users. The full version of the Business software will sell for $379.00. If they are using Windows XP, they can buy an upgrade and save some cash and business can purchase their copies in November 2006.

Then there is the Ultimate version which adds the business features, television and digital photography, previously only available as part of Window's Media Center Edition.

Which version (or upgrade) will you choose?
