» sheryllalexander - Should I Switch to Web-Based Email?
Hi Sharon! This is a very serious question for me as I run my home-based freelance writing business mostly via Outlook. I am thinking about switching to Yahoo's new Beta mail as it is very similar to Outlook. I am hoping the switch would take care of my problems with Outlook such as crashes and slowing due to too much memory usage. Also, I do lots of traveling and it would certainly be easier to have all of my emails and folders available anytime, anywhere through Yahoo. So, what do you think about switching? And, how do I go about uploading all of my current information in Outlook to Yahoo? Is that even possible? And what about security issues? Help!!-- posted by sheryllalexander

I switched to web-based (gmail in my case though I also have a Yahoo beta account) and I seldom use offline (e.g. Outlook or Tbird) anymore. We maintain a list of contacts offline, though, only because it lets us do a "mail merge" to print mailing labels. Opinion, speculation: safe and handy. If you're mobile and if you're using mobile device (PDA?) make sure your email works there.

Today, there are so many options to choose from, it can be overwhelming. I also use Yahoo and Gmail for different purposes.
